Artist Spotlight: Jiayue Li

At Bon Femmes, we love shining the spotlight on incredible women artists, and today, I’m beyond excited to introduce you to one of my personal favorites—Jiayue Li! I first discovered Jiayue’s mesmerizing illustrations on Pinterest, and I’ve been a fan ever since. Her work is bold, creative, and has this magical way of turning complex ideas into something visually stunning.

Jiayue is a graphic designer and illustrator based in both New York and San Francisco. Her passions? Creating narratives and solving design challenges through graphic design, illustration, and art direction.

In an interview with SVA’s MFA Design program, Jiayue shared how she finds her inspiration: "By observing daily things and always thinking about how I can make a good composition. I love sketching on my iPad and keeping a folder in Are.na for creative ideas. Also, of course, looking at other designers and illustrators’ work on Instagram."

She went on to say she’s inspired not just by graphic designers and illustrators, but also by fashion designers like @windowsen, known for their crazy ideas with color and form, and photographers like @zhonglin and @lesliezhang, whose work she admires for their "simple and strong composition and eccentric but harmonious colors."

One thing I did ask her is whether she sells prints (I mean, who wouldn’t want to hang one of her pieces in their home?), but sadly, she doesn’t—yet! Fingers crossed for the future.
