It's been way too long since I've done a bon femmes artist spotlight. Every month, I promise myself I'll do more blog posts than immediately get overwhelmed. So, I've decided to do them as inspiration strikes. Anywhos, I'm excited to introduce you all to today's spotlight, Maria Jesús Contreras. She's someone whom I've followed on Instagram for a while now, and when I saw that one of my favorite brands, Kiblind, had a collab print with her, I knew I had to get it. After receiving the print, the obvious next step was to learn more about her!
Maria Jesús Contreras is a powerhouse illustrator born and raised in southern Chile. Her work is instantly recognizable, filled with saturated colors, playful forms, and a signature blend of fear and humor that makes every piece feel alive. She creates weekly illustrations for The New York Times and has collaborated with iconic clients like The New Yorker, Gucci, Hermès, Apple, NPR, and so many more. In addition to being a creative force, Maria has earned major accolades, including a Young Guns Award and a spot on Forbes Chile’s list of 50 most powerful women. Her imaginative world is one I never get tired of exploring.
